Reshaping Philanthropy: Thrive Philanthropy Hosts a Reverse Pitch Session at the AVA Summit
During the AVA Summit in Toronto, Thrive Philanthropy hosted a special “Reverse Pitch” session that introduced a different approach to conversations between funders and advocates — one that flips the traditional funding model to equalize power imbalances and and prioritize partnership and trust.
Rather than asking advocates to pitch their work to a funder, Thrive’s CEO, Jessika Ava, pitched to organizations Thrive Philanthropy’s various ways of supporting food systems changemakers, creating an opportunity for advocates to learn more about Thrive and consider whether the approach aligned with their work.
The session highlighted Thrive’s Trust-Based Philanthropy approach, grants, fiscal sponsorship, and accelerators designed to support organizations working toward food systems change. The session brought together advocates from around the world, creating space for connection, learning, and conversations about the diverse efforts taking place across the global food systems movement.
