Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign

Join us for the Thrive Africa Accelerator: Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch! This Thrive Africa Accelerator equips social justice leaders with skills to become more effective vegan advocates for public health, animals, and the environment.

Participants will be equipped with tools to launch a vegan school lunch campaign while building an Africa-wide professional vegan advocate network. The accelerator ends with a certificate of completion, chance to apply for a grant, and an invitation to join the pan-Africa-wide, Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch campaign alongside numerous advocates.

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey!  This accelerator is tailored to small and midsize groups and individuals. Women and marginalized groups are encouraged to join.

GOAL

Increase accessibility to healthy, plant-based school lunches and reduce reliance on industrial animal agriculture across African countries, while imparting leadership skills and increasing opportunities to plant-based advocates within Africa.

  • Cultural Adaptation: Tailor the campaign to fit local cuisines and traditions however you like.

  • Implementation: Each participating organization will run the Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign in their own country, fostering local involvement and pride. (Participating in the Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign is not a requirement, and we invite you to join the accelerator regardless!)

THRIVE AFRICA
VEGAN SCHOOL LUNCH CAMPAIGN

During the accelerator, participants will learn the tools to join the pan-Africa-wide Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign, an umbrella joint campaign housed by Thrive Philanthropy with participating organizations in over 20 cities across Africa. The campaign will run throughout June of 2025. If you’d like to participate in next year’s campaign, please register below to join.

  • Campaign Development: How to craft a strategy that resonates with local cultures and educational systems.

  • Engagement Techniques: How to effectively educate students, parents, and school staff.

  • Sustainability Education: How to integrate lessons on the environmental sutainability and health benefits of plant-based diets.

  • Working together regionally: How to participate in an Africa-wide campaign alongside advocates across 20+ African countries.

  • Expert-Led Webinars: Receive learnings from regional and international experts.

  • Invitation to Join Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign: (Optional) Participants will be invited to join the pan-Africa-wide Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign alongside numerous other advocates from 20+ countries.

  • Campaign Plan: The accelerator ends with a campaign plan drafted by participants.

  • Certificate of Completion: For members who meet criteria.

  • Grant Opportunity: Participants have an opportunity to apply for a grant (receiving a grant is not guaranteed).

  • Professional Vegan Network: Participants will become a part of an Africa-wide and international network of professional vegan advocates.

The Thrive Africa Accelerator and Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign is co-founded by Thrive CEO, Jessika Ava, and led by Thrive Africa Senior Co-Manager, Nabaasa Innocent.  Nabaasa is based in Uganda and is an international vegan speaker and workshop leader and founder of one of Africa’s first and largest vegan advocacy organizations, Uganda Vegan Society. She has several years of experience in leading successful vegan advocacy projects including the Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign and Thrive Africa Vegan Restaurant Week and Uganda VegFest.
